The boundaries run from Monument Valley Park on the west to Weber Street and Wahsatch Avenue on the east, Uintah Street on the south and the railroad bed/Van Buren Street on the north. Set along Monument Creek, the large city park offers something for everyone, including playgrounds, ball fields, and trails. Penrose Hospital sits at the north side of the Old North End neighborhood.
History of Old North End
In the late 1800s, construction leaped frogged north of Colorado College to accommodate the affluence reaped from the Cripple Creek gold strike. This area became known as Old North End. Enter the two- and three- story Victorian homes with their popular decorative touches.
About 20 years later, the clean lines of the Craftsman style bungalows appeared in the Old North End neighborhood. As more professionals moved to the city, large Spanish and Mediterranean-style homes appeared. Ranch styles from the later 1900s can also be spotted.

Property owners within the historic districts must submit all exterior home changes for review. Old North End Register National Historic District is a bit quilted. It runs from Madison Street on the north to Uintah Street on the south. From east to west, it goes from the alley between Nevada Avenue and Weber Street to Wood Avenue. It spans about 44 blocks and 657 properties. The North Weber/Wahsatch Historic District includes 135 properties along Weber Street within Old North End.
Organization and Preservation
In lieu of a neighborhood association, Old North End Neighborhood (ONEN), a nonprofit represents the community. ONEN was established “to preserve, protect, and enhance the neighborhood.” The organization deals with historic neighborhood integrity, safety and security, communication. Fun neighborhood events include ONENFest, Yard Sale, Independence Day, Garden Party, and ONEN Dog of the Year.
