A Look at Some Favorite Colorado Springs Subdivisions
Look north, south, east and west to some of the most popular Colorado Springs subdivisions not far from downtown. The Broadmoor has kept its allure as the favorite of all Colorado Springs subdivisions–for a century. Set in the city’s southwestern corner at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain, the illustrious neighborhood grew up in the gentle era of wealthy visitors coming to enjoy the iconic Broadmoor Hotel and golf course, healing spas, stunning surroundings, and the Great Outdoors.
Certainly, the Broadmoor has captured the heritage of the cultured Front Range city. Beautiful homes fill in the scenic Broadmoor streetscapes and those of neighboring communities like Broadmoor Bluffs. Updated for today’s lifestyle, a strong spirit of yesteryear’s Broadmoor mansions pervades the tree laden streets.
On the northwestern side of the city, Rockrimmon is other popular older neighborhood. Rockrimmon is composed of a collective bunch of medium-sized homes on large country lots of varying shapes. Homes nestle in the natural vegetation along winding streets. Next door are similar types of lots with larger homes in Peregrine.
West of downtown, Old Colorado City is another historic neighborhood that is gaining increasing attention as more people are moving into urban areas. The mixture of historic and older, newer, and restored homes gives off an eclectic Western feel. Old Colorado City boasts quaint shops and eateries.
North of downtown are the picturesque neighborhoods near colleges and Patty Jewett Golf Course. Centrally located, Old North End is convenient to all corners of the city. Farther north, is Briargate, an established master planned community offering District 20 schools and all kinds of amenities.
Cost a Factor in Choosing Best Neighborhoods?
The Broadmoor is also one of the most expensive of all Colorado Springs subdivisions. Some homebuyers want those classy homes and cost is not such an issue; others avoid them.
Comparably nice and costly subdivisions are located along the North Cheyenne Canyon Road and Cannon Wood, Route 115 and Star Ranch Road. More expensive homes can be found in Black Forest, at Black Forest Highway and Baker Road, Vollmer and Shoup Roads, and along the Route 83 and Old Ranch Road on the far north/northeastern edge of Colorado Springs.
