Mission WWII Aviation Museum
The mission of the museum is to provide unique educational experiences and to promote a deeper understanding of the historical importance of American aviation in World War II. It includes airplanes, many still flyable. There are storage closets, private hangers, Westpac restoration labs, and so many interesting tidbits. You will love the technologically advanced tools, touch screens, and kiosks. There are so many fascinating aspects in the wide range of displays.
All in all, the museum promotes a deeper understanding of the historical importance of American aviation in World War II. Add the bonus of enlightened tour docents. For example, a Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit shows pictures of black pilots during training and piloting the P-51 Redtails. The museum was built and run by volunteers. All artifacts are donated or on loan.

The National Museum of World War II Aviation is located at 755 Aviation Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80916. The museum is open for 2-hour docent tours on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tours begin at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. To take the tour, check in at the front desk. Parking is free.

From Interstate 25, take Exit 139 for US 24. Turn north on Powers Boulevard and take Fountain Boulevard. Turn left on Aviation Way. Enter the gate on the north side of the three hangars and look for the entrance.
